 เมื่อก่อนเราเป็นคางทูมกันจนแก้มโย้ พ่อแม่บางบ้านก็พาไปหาชินแสบ้างหมอชาวบ้านบ้าง ซินแสหรือหมอก็จะเขียนเสือเป็นตัวอักษรบ้าง เป็นรูปเสือบ้าง ในที่สุดก็หายเป็นปกติจริงๆ คนหลายคนก็เลยเชื่ออย่างปักใจเลยว่าต้องเขียนเสือไว้ คางทูมถึงจะกลัว พากันเลี้ยงเสือไว้บนคางกันเรื่อยมา
เรื่องนี้มีคำอธิบายที่เป็นวิทยาศาสตร์มากกว่านั้นครับ
คางทูมเป็นโรคที่เกิดจากการติดเชื้อไวรัสชนิดหนึ่งที่บริเวณต่อมน้ำลาย อาจจะเป็นต่อมเดียวก็ได้ หรือบางครั้งเชื้อโรคก็ลุกลามไปยังต่อมน้ำลายในบริเวณอื่นๆ
เชื้อไวรัสชนิดนี้มีช่องทางเข้าสู่ร่างกายโดยการหายใจเอาละอองเชื้อเข้าไป ต่อจากนั้นเชื้อจะไปแกะแน่นอยู่ที่เมือกในบริเวณทางเดินหายใจเพื่อฟักตัวโดยใช้เวลา ๒-๔ สัปดาห์ แล้วจึงแสดงอาการออกมา
โรคคางทูมมักจะทุเลาและหายได้เอง เพียงแต่ถ้ามีอาการไข้หรือปวด ก็จะใช้วิธีแก้ตามอาการ คือรับประทานยาแก้ปวดลดไข้เพื่อบรรเทาอาการ คางทูมจึงมีลักษณะเหมือนกับหวัด คือเป็นเองหายเองได้โดยไม่ต้องเขียนเสือครับ |
